Journal on My Independence day.
Freedom was earned in the hardest way possible but let’s not forget to fight to protect it too.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY
As it was the 75th anniversary of our independence as a free nation, I planned to take part in some celebrations. I decided to head back to my old school. At the school gate, I saw my high school physics teacher. She told me old students were no longer welcome at the school due to some mishaps. I was bit disappointed to hear that. Then she spoke to someone at the gate, and I heard her say that she would vouch for me. Therefore, I was able to witness the events and cherish my old memories. That made my day.
The day brought back a bunch of memories. It had been eight years since I visited my old school. Many faces were familiar to me, but few remembered me. My nostalgic connections with that place had ceased. I was a stranger in a familiar land. The place which once welcomed me with open arms now treats me like a stranger. I started noticing the changes. During the past few years, my school underwent many drastic changes. It took me a while to comprehend the changes that have happened here over the past 8 years. There were newly constructed buildings, signboards, and cameras everywhere. The school grounds seem deserted and unused. Most of my teachers now have grey hair.
During the celebrations, my attention was divided between the speeches and watching the children sitting there talking to each other. As a student, I and my friends used to do that whenever we attended school ceremonies. Seeing those children there made me realize how much I have grown. I felt delighted with the opportunities I got and the path that led me here. If someone asks me if I ever get a chance to redo everything, will I take it? But for today the answer is a "No !".
She vouched for you, which shows that you were a good student back in those days.🩵
