The night when I found myself writing a police complaint
Illiterate Lorry Driver's Complaint: A Gen Z Malayali's Tale
It was around 11:30 pm, and a typical night in Angamaly. I was standing near the bus stand to bid farewell to my brother and his friend, who were off to college. Suddenly, a lorry driver approached us, looking anxious and requested our help. He had been in a minor accident and needed to file a complaint at the nearby police station. Being illiterate, he was struggling to write a complaint, and that's where I stepped in. Reluctantly, I agreed and left my brother to accompany the driver to the police station.
At the police station, the officer asked me to write the complaint on behalf of the driver. Hesitantly, I asked if it was okay to write it in English. As a typical Gen Z Malayali, I struggle to write a paragraph in Malayalam without making any blunders. To my surprise, the policeman said it was fine. He quickly gave me the format in Malayalam and left me with the driver. I wanted to finish the task as quickly as possible and leave the police station.
The driver explained that a KSRTC bus had hit his truck's front glass and bonnet while trying to avoid a reckless biker, and they needed the insurance money to fix the damages. With only one piece of paper, I knew I had to be careful with my words. I thought of writing a rough draft on my mobile and copying it later. But then I remembered ChatGPT, and a wave of relief washed over me.
I quickly scribbled the details on ChatGPT and asked it to write a complaint. In no time, ChatGPT responded, and the complaint was ready. I scanned through it, and to my surprise, it was perfect! It had all the necessary details, and the language was impeccable. I couldn't help but give a thumbs up to ChatGPT and thank it for saving the day
And who knows, maybe ChatGPT wrote this blog too!
